How do I submit a planning application? Online applications are made via the National Planning Portal. For hard copy applications our 1APP planning application forms and guidance notes can be downloaded from this website.

Assistance and guidance for planning appeals is available from the Planning Inspectorate

Please read our guidance notes prior to submitting an application and ensure the relevant fee has been paid. For more information and examples of the type of drawings required, please see Plans & other documents needed to accompany your planning application.

If the application being submitted is a joint application, e.g. Householder and Listed Building, a double set of plans and drawings will be required if the application is submitted in hard copy format.

You must always check with Building control whether Building Regulations Consent is needed before carrying out any works.

Since August 2008 the Council has taken all reasonable steps to remove personal, but not business, phone numbers, email addresses and signatures from items on our website. If you wish personal information to be removed from documents preceding that date please contact the Assistant Data Protection Officer.

Planning applications over 10 years old will only have the decision notice, related documents and plans published on the website.

How are planning applications processed?

Please note, we do not have a Duty Planning Officer and any pre-application enquiries should be made in accordance with our paid for pre- application service.
